About the Person

Anthony Schlinsog serves as the Chief Information Technology Officer for the executive branch of government in the state of Kansas. In this role he serves as the chief planner in the development of strategic plans for IT consolidation, technological integration and intersystem coordination with vendors and executive branch agencies. Moreover, he formulates policy recommendations for the Governor and his Cabinet concerning IT policies and activities. From 2008 until his recent appointment as the CIO/CTO for Kansas, Anthony served as Chief Information Officer at the Kansas Department of Transportation (KDOT). There he managed the day-to-day information technology operations of a $1.6 billion state agency, driving efficiencies in the systems that support multi-modal transportation across the State. Prior to his state service, Mr. Schlinsog served as manager, data development, informatics, for Child Health Corporation of America (CHCA), where he managed data quality and content development projects for the Pediatric Health Information System, the nation’s largest un-blinded clinical pediatric data warehouse. He also held numerous technology roles at the Government Employees Health Association (GEHA), a large national health insurer headquartered here in Kansas City, including manager of client services development, project manager, senior applications developer and analyst. He has been a contributing author to several publications on the subject of effective management and governance of IT departments and large scale IT projects. In 2011 Anthony was instrumental in the Kansas Department of Transportation receiving an InformationWeek 500 Government IT Innovators award for their work on developing an automated Traffic Records System for Kansas. Mr. Schlinsog earned his undergraduate degree in Physics from Andrews University in Michigan and his master’s degree in Mathematics from the University of Illinois. He also holds a PMP certification from the Project Management Institute.
