About the Person

Angel Santa is the Deputy, Chief Information Officer at the US Office of Justice Programs (OJP), US Department of Justice. Mr. Santa is a seasoned and very experienced, career service executive who has direct leadership responsibility and oversight for all Office of the Chief Information Office (OCIO) functions including budgeting, program management, audit controls, procurement and contracting. The IT functions he leads include Information Security, Technical Infrastructure, Application Development and Maintenance, IT Business Office and Enterprise Architecture. His extensive and effective leadership in the development and creation of the Department of Education Grant Consortium vision and strategy resulted in the selection of him to lead the Education-led consortium. His recognition as an effective leader by his peers has led to the development and marketing of the Education’s consortium offering to senior leadership at over 15 government-wide agencies. Since then, Mr. Santa has been very effective and successful at recruiting several more agencies to join the Education–led consortium. In addition to his executive responsibilities, Mr. Santa was selected by senior executives, from the 26 major grant agencies, to chair a committee of government executives in the selection and recommendation of government grant consortiums activities. He was also instrumental as the leader in the development and implementation of the OJP private cloud which included the distributed implementation across three major data centers. During the course of his career, Mr. Santa has very effectively justified budgets and programs to Congressional Staffers, the Office of Management and Budget (OMB), agency senior leadership, and executive committees. He has also successfully led several business process re-engineering studies that have resulted in greater effectiveness and efficiency, thereby lowering the costs to the taxpayers and providing incremental value to the Department. Mr. Santa earned a Bachelors of Science (B.Sci.) in Computer Science from City College of New York (CUNY) with Cum Laude honors and has successfully completed several advanced MBA courses. He is currently enrolled in seminary school pursuing a Certificate in Biblical Studies. He and his family reside in Falls Church, VA.
