About the Person

Adam Messinger has been the Chief Technology Officer of Twitter, Inc, since March 14, 2013 and its Head of Engineering - Product Development & Design since January 2016. Mr. Messinger served as Vice President of Infrastructure Engineer at Twitter, Inc. He first joined Twitter in 2011 and was mainly responsible for app design and user experience. Prior to Twitter, he served as Vice President of Development at Oracle Corporation. Prior to that, Mr. Messinger founded Gauntlet Systems Corporation and served as its Vice President of Products. He was a Venture Partner of SmartForest Ventures, LLC and was a Venture Consultant at O`Reilly AlphaTech Ventures, LLC. He served as an Architect on the WebLogic server product working on clustering technology and JVM integration at BEA. During his long tenure on the WebLogic team, Mr. Messinger variously lead development of the Servlet, EJB and Web Services containers. Prior to WebLogic, he served as Director of Engineering at Organic, where he lead the development of a number of early web sites. Before that, he performed complex systems research at the Santa Fe Institute. He serves as a Member of Advisory Board of Splunk, Inc. He has been Independent Director of New Relic, Inc. since April 2014. He is the inventor of more than a dozen granted or pending patents. Mr. Messinger holds an M.S. in Management from the Stanford Graduate School of Business where he was a Sloan Fellow and holds a B.S. degree in Physics and Computer Science from Willamette University, where he was a G. Herbert Smith Scholar.
