Galesburg Cottage Hospital has received The Joint Commission seal of accreditation and is the only hospital in Galesburg and west- central Illinois to have been named a Top Performer hospital several years in a row for succeeding in several health metrics. Cottage is also the only western Illinois hospital to be accredited by the Society of Cardiovascular Patient Care as a Chest Pain Center after having met rigorous standards of care in the timely treatment of cardiac emergencies. The Level II Trauma Emergency Department is an Emergency Department approved for Pediatrics by the State of Illinois and is also a Primary Stroke Center as certified by The Joint Commission. With over 70 medical staff members representing a cross section of specialties, Galesburg Cottage Hospital has the area`s only Wound Healing Center with hyperbaric oxygen chambers, Surgical Weight Loss Center, and a renal dialysis center, among many other specialized services. Tampa General is a private not-for-profit hospital and one of the most comprehensive medical facilities in West Central Florida serving a dozen counties with a population in excess of 4 million. As one of the largest hospitals in Florida, Tampa General is licensed for 1,011 beds, and with approximately 7,600 employees, is one of the region`s largest employers. Tampa General Hospital has been affiliated with the USF Health Morsani College of Medicine since the school was created in the early 1970s.
