We currently oversee 15 schools in Detroit, including nine elementary/middle schools (three of which are charter schools) and six high schools. Also, our Michigan Educational Assessment Program (MEAP) scores for 2013 showed steady progress, with 12.1 percent of students who were not proficient in reading the previous year achieving the state standard. Overall, 38.2 percent of our students made progress toward or beyond grade-appropriate proficiency in reading, and 21.4 percent improved in math."
