Women`s World Banking is seeking a dynamic individual with strong analytical and interpersonal skills for an Executive level position. The CFAO reports to the President`s Office and is a member of the Executive Leadership Team. This position is responsible for executive level decision-making for Finance, Information Technology, Compliance and Office Administration and the management of staff supporting these business lines. The position`s core responsibility is to maintain the highest level of integrity, transparency and efficiency possible for all operational needs of Women`s World Banking.
A successful CFAO will be a thoughtful and exceptional leader, adding value throughout the Organization on business strategy and strategic direction. The CFAO will continue to elevate the finance role as an integral “front office” function, participating in project planning and bringing strong business acumen to decisions across functional teams. The CFAO is also expected to be capable of representing the mission and accomplishments of Women`s World Banking to external stakeholders and donors.
The CFAO will be charged with overseeing all financial activity for the three entities of Women`s World Banking (1) Stichting to Promote Women`s World Banking (SWWB) an international 501(c)4 with $13.4M in annual revenue and $31.5M in assets, including an $18M investment portfolio; (2) Friends of Women`s World Banking (FWWB) a domestic 501(c)3 with $5.7M in annual revenue and $2.3M in assets; and (3) WWB Asset Management LLC a for-profit subsidiary of SWWB with $774k in revenue and $311K in net assets and the responsibility of investing and managing $50M in private equity. The CFAO will lead the Organization`s financial strategy with real time decision making for project costing, development of fundraising targets and thoughtful long term business planning.
Position Accountabilities
Financial Strategy
• Develop and manage a profitable business plan to ensure the economic sustainability of the Organization`s strategic plan
• Provide strategic guidance and oversight for all budgeting activity associated with project and program development
• Set the overall annual budget objectives which support the strategic plan and multi-year financial forecast for the Organization
• Lead conversations with the Boards of Trustees and Directors conveying confidence and control over the Organization`s financial positions and decisions
• Provide a financial expert`s voice for external stakeholders including strategic donor relationships and guide all financial presentations
• Establish the annual fundraising targets, working closely with the Development team to ensure that fundraising goals are specific, achievable and timed to the needs of the Organization
• Design, enforce and continue to improve internal processes to maintain the highest level of financial prudence possible. Design controls to safeguard Women`s World Banking`s assets, ensure transactions are properly recorded and the accounting records accurately reflect all donor specific earmarks
• Provide the perspective and guidance to continue to improve Women`s World Banking`s business intelligence platform, connecting and sharing information across divisions
Financial Management
• Manage and develop a fulltime staff of three professionals responsible for the day-to-day finance responsibilities of the Organization:
o Payroll, Accounts Payable and Accounts Receivable
o Financial planning and analysis
o Procurement, purchasing and contract/grant compliance
• Present quarterly financial presentations to the SWWB Board of Trustees and FWWB Board of Directors and lead all activities with the Finance and Audit Committees
• Maintain a timely and accurate monthly and annual close process
• Ensure staff are meeting or exceeding their billable hour projections
• Provide oversight to the Organization`s “Capital Fund” investment portfolio, work closely with financial advisors to ensure funds are properly invested and are in compliance with the Board approved Investment Policy
• Manage and provide oversight to ensure that all regulatory filings, audits and tax returns are completed accurately and timely
• Provide constant monitoring on financial risks, taking into consideration project activities, cash flow concerns, and fundraising pipeline development
• Administer and be a primary point of contact for the Organization`s 401(k) program
Operational Management
• Manage and develop a fulltime staff of four professionals responsible for the day-to-day IT and administration responsibilities of the Organization
• Set priorities to keep the Organization`s technology evolving in a prudent and thoughtful way to meet the changing needs of a global workforce
• Maintain internal processes which meet the evolving demands of donors, continually aligning system improvements and processes with compliance and reporting requirements within finance and across the larger business intelligence platform
• Oversee a staff which manages the Organization`s administration tasks including primary point of contact for landlord/tenant management
• Lead all capital improvements and functions of the physical office space
• Negotiate and manage related vendors and contractors
• Serve as a point person for the Organization`s international safety and security as it relates to international travel
Critical Knowledge and Capabilities Requirements
• Significant Senior-level finance experience (5 + years) within an organization with an operating budget of at least $5 million
• Strong leadership skills with experience managing and developing staff
• Experience managing, conducting, or preparing for annual audits and IRS 990s
• Familiarity with government reporting and compliance requirements
• Success in scoping, implementing and maintaining technology projects and platforms
• Experience with CRM and Accounting software is a requirement. Exposure to Intacct Financial Accounting software and Salesforce a plus
• Experience building financial forecasting models is a requirement.
• Strong inter-personal skills with a sense of humor
• Solid business acumen
• Distinguished communicator, both verbal and written
Education Level
Bachelor`s degree in Accounting, Finance or related field required. CPA or CFA a plus.
Languages
Fluency in English required. Spanish is a plus.
