Founded in 1919 as the Springfield Division of Northeastern College, became Western New England College in 1951 and Western New England University on July 1, 2011. The present campus on Wilbraham Road was purchased in 1956 with the first building, today`s Emerson Hall, opening in 1959.
The Volgenau School of Engineering at George Mason University is a fast-growing force for innovation in technology and education. The school boasts approximately 7,800 students in 37 undergraduate, master`s, and doctoral degree programs, including several first-in-the-nation offerings. The Graduate School 17 programs of study leading to master`s degrees; 11 post-baccalaureate certificate programs and certification programs in education; and a doctoral program in organizational leadership leading to a doctorate in organizational leadership or doctorate in business administration. Hood students can gain valuable career experience at more than 600 local and regional internship sites; participate in more than 60 clubs and organizations; and compete in Hood`s 21 men`s and women`s NCAA Division III Blazer athletic teams. Gammon/ITC is fully accredited by the Association of Theological Schools in the United States and Canada and by the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools. The school is a member of the Atlanta Theological Association, among other organizations, and maintains cross-registration arrangements with Candler School of Theology at Emory University, Clark Atlanta University, Columbia Theological Seminary, and Morehouse School of Medicine.
