The New York State Thruway Authority operates a 570-mile toll facility known for its dependability and safety. The Thruway is one of the longest toll roads in the nation. In 1964, the highway system was re-named “The Governor Thomas E. Dewey Thruway” to recognize vision and leadership of the former governor (1943-1954) in the creation of the cross-state superhighway.
