Formally known as the LSU Health Sciences Center in Shreveport, LSU has Schools of Medicine, Graduate Studies and Allied Professions which together offer an array of professional degree programs and have 1,500 students and postdoctoral trainees. Across Shreveport/Bossier and Monroe, our faculty practice plan offers patients the collective expertise of LSU`s 500 physicians. LSU Health Shreveport has partnerships with four major area hospitals: University Health, Willis-Knighton, Shriners Children`s Hospital, and the Overton Brooks Veterans Affairs Medical Center. University Health operates our teaching hospitals and clinics in Shreveport and Monroe. Our specialty centers in rheumatology and trauma care - and the Feist Weiller Cancer Center - are jointly sponsored by LSU and University Health. Livingston Regional Hospital (LRH) is a 114-bed hospital providing a continuum of care covering all aspects of healthcare, from 24-hour emergency services to rehabilitative services on both an impatient and an outpatient basis, Level II-A neonatal nursery, a 10-bed gero-psych unit and many other services. Fully accredited by The Joint Commission, the hospital in Livingston serves a five-county area in central Tennessee and southern Kentucky. Privacy, confidentiality, and safety are main concerns for all our patients. To address these issues, our employees are HIPAA trained and receive annual fire and safety training. For additional security, our facility is 100% sprinkler covered and has a state of the art fire detection system.
