Founded in 1957 as Meriwether Memorial Hospital, the original 38-bed facility provided health care services to families in Meriwether County. In 1996, Georgia Baptist leased the facility from Meriwether County with the goal of improving health care in rural communities. Georgia Baptist began an aggressive campaign to improve the facility. Over 12 million dollars were invested into the facility to add new radiology suites, a mammography suite, CT scanner, Emergency Department, MRI service, laboratory, lobby, chapel, operating room, labor and delivery suites, endoscopy suite, and DEXA scanner.
