Rosedale Union School District

The Rosedale Union School District is located in the northwest of Bakersfield, California. The District provides transitional kindergarten through eighth grade education services to residents of an area encompassing approximately twenty-eight square miles in the southern portion of the San Joaquin Valley of Central California. The District is governed by an independent Board of Trustees consisting of five members who are elected at large to overlapping four-year terms at elections held every two years. The District`s affairs are administered by the Superintendent, who is appointed by the Board of Trustees. The District was established in 1890 by pioneer farming families living in the Rosedale area. On June 28, 1933, Palm School District and the Rosedale School District united to form the present Rosedale Union School District. The District has grown from one school and 18 students in 1890 to seven elementary and two middle schools with over 5,800 students in 2019. Several schools within the District also have been recognized by the California Department of Education as California Distinguished Schools, Gold Ribbon Schools, and National Blue Ribbon Schools.
