It is the second largest employer with over 22,000 employees and provides instruction to almost 175,000 students. Support from Orange County business partners, caring parents and community-minded citizens is evident by their participation: 47,800 registered volunteers who contribute more than 694,000 hours annually 3,500 school-business partnership agreements 38,905 PTA/PTSA members School Advisory Councils composed of community members, parents and school staff. Generous contributions afford many opportunities for our students. Volunteers and partners are always welcome.
Greenville is located 50 miles northeast of Dallas on the rolling Blackland Prairies, one of the most fertile strips of land in the state. Cheshire County government consists of two branches; a Legislative Branch, referred to as the county delegation, which is comprised of twenty-four Representatives elected for 2 year terms, and an Executive Branch consisting of three commissioners. Two of the commissioners are elected for 2 year terms and one is elected for a 4 year term on a rotating basis. The Cheshire County commissioners appoint a full-time county administrator to oversee the daily operations of the county.
