The Charter Township of Brighton is one of those peaceful communities that helps make the fabric of America. Our tree lined expressways provide a rural look to the traveler. But behind those trees is a bustling community filled with nearly 18,000 great people, twenty-five named lakes, a rural atmosphere and a friendly smile. But with the millions of vehicles passing through The Charter Township of Brighton each year a serene peaceful co-existence has been achieved. The Charter Township of Brighton most prominent manmade feature is its expressways. Over twelve miles of expressway that serve the major population centers of Michigan are in our township. I-96, connecting the Metro Detroit area with Lansing and Grand Rapids , crosses US 23 which connects Ann Arbor / Ypsilanti with Flint, Saginaw and Bay City. They cross right here. We are truly 'at the crossroads of Michigan' We are a "Charter Township" that derives its authority from state law. The International Development Research Centre (IDRC) is a Canadian Crown corporation established by an act of Parliament in 1970 to help developing countries find solutions to their problems. We encourage and support researchers and innovators in those countries to find practical, long-term solutions to the social, economic, and environmental problems their societies face. Our goal is to find ways to reduce poverty, improve health, support innovation, and safeguard the environment. We often work with other Canadian government departments and agencies on programs of mutual interest that are aligned with Canadian values and government priorities. Many of these initiatives create opportunities for researchers from Canada and the developing world to collaborate on research of common interest. Most of IDRC’s funding comes from annual appropriations from Canada’s Parliament. IDRC also receives funds from other sources, such as foundations and other Canadian and international organizations that support international development or fund research. IDRC is guided by an international Board of Governors. We report to Canada’s Parliament through the Minister of Foreign Affairs. Our head office is in Ottawa, Canada. Four regional offices help ensure the relevance of our work.
The HFA was established in 1979 to stimulate and expand homeownership and rental housing opportunities in Washington, D.C. We accomplish our mission by issuing housing mortgage revenue bonds that lower the homebuyers` costs of purchasing homes and the developers` costs of acquiring, constructing and rehabilitating rental housing.
