Abilene is a home rule city. It has all powers granted to home rule cities by the constitution and laws of Texas. The municipal government provided by the City Charter is known as "Council-Manager Government." All powers of the City are vested in an elected City Council, which enacts legislation, adopts budgets, and determines policies.
Brookfield is incorporated under the provisions of a Town Charter, the State Constitution, and the General Statutes of the State of Connecticut. In 1957, the State Assembly passed the "Home Rule" Act, which allows each town to adopt its own charter to manage the property, government, and affairs of that town. Brookfield adopted its charter in November 1975, and it was revised in November 1977, November 1979, November 1981, November 1987 and November 1993. The Charter states that a commission must be established at least every five years to review, amend, or revise it. State law mandates a Charter Revision Commission must be appointed within 30 days of the filing of a petition with ten percent of the Town`s electorate`s signatures or when a two-third vote of the Board of Selectmen calls for action to amend the Charter.
Sibley County is located in southcentral Minnesota. The population at the 2000 census was 15,356. The county seat is Gaylord... It is impossible to give a detailed and reliable history of the beginning of Sibley County, because the records were destroyed by fire October 18, 1863. What data is available for that period is the result of conversations with several of the early settlers. If errors exist, as they undoubtedly do, we must take into consideration the difficulty of giving, from memory alone, a correct account of those years.

The County of Crawford lies in northwestern Pennsylvania. Originally it was inhabited by the Iroquiois Indians and other tribes and nations. In later years, the land was acquired by a group of Dutch investors under title of the Holland Land Company and resold to settlers. The Commonwealth allocated land to its Revolutionary War soldiers as a bonus settlement. The county was formed in 1800 from a portion of Allegheny County and named after Colonel William Crawford, an early military hero and close friend of George Washington. Crawford County is shaped in the form of a rectangle, with the southeast corner missing. It is approximately 50 miles in length and 26 miles in width with a total area of 1,012 square miles. It is bordered by the following counties: on the north by Erie, on the east by Warren, on the south by Mercer and Venango, and on the west by Ashtabula and Trumbull Counties in Ohio. The entire county lies in the Appalachian Plateau. Elevation varies from slightly less than 850 feet at the Erie County line to more than 1,900 feet above sea level in Sparta Township in the northeast corner. Crawford County consists of several small, nearly extinct lakes. It is also home to three major natural lakes: Conneaut, the largest natural lake in Pennsylvania, Canadohta, and Sugar. Pymatuning, the largest artificial lake in Pennsylvania, is also located here. The two principal streams are French Creek and Oil Creek, both flowing south into the Allegheny system. Conneaut Creek in the northwest drains into Lake Erie. The county has grown from a population of 2,346 in 1800 to 90,366 in 2000. It is divided into 35 townships, 14 boroughs, and two major cities.
