Marine Well Containment Company (MWCC) is an independent company founded in 2010 to address the need for a deepwater well containment response capability in the U.S. Gulf of Mexico. MWCC is a not-for-profit operation consisting of 10 member companies. Our members are some of the worlds largest offshore deepwater operators and make up roughly 70 percent of drilling activity in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico. When activated for an incident response, MWCC deploys in the deepwater U.S. Gulf of Mexico, with equipment designed to reach depths of up to 10,000 feet to contain and seal off a compromised well. The MWCC team engages in a rigorous ongoing training regime to maintain response readiness. To ensure they can scale to the needs of any incident, the organization is supported by a well-trained network of skilled contractors and reservists. With a goal of seamless and effective source control, MWCC is designed to integrate within the Incident Command System (ICS) structure of the Operator. MWCC is the product of unprecedented industry collaboration, which ensures collaborative readiness and a highly skilled response organization dedicated to efficient mobilization of a state-of-the-art containment system.
