The Science and Technology Directorate (S&T) serves as the research and development arm of the Department of Homeland Security. We help improve security across the nation by developing innovative technology, knowledge products, methods, and solutions to address the critical needs of the Homeland Security Enterprise. The United States Intelligence Community (IC) is a group of 17 separate United States government intelligence agencies, that work separately and together to conduct intelligence activities to support the foreign policy and national security of the United States. Member organizations of the IC include intelligence agencies, military intelligence, and civilian intelligence and analysis offices within federal executive departments. The IC is overseen by the Office of the Director of National Intelligence (ODNI), which itself is headed by the Director of National Intelligence (DNI), who reports to the President of the United States.
