Penn Highlands Healthcare is a health system in north central Pennsylvania that brings together the services of Penn Highlands Brookville, Penn Highlands Clearfield, Penn Highlands DuBois and Penn Highlands Elk. Humber River Hospital is one of Canada`s largest regional acute care hospitals, serving a catchment area of more than 850,000 people in the northwest GTA. The hospital currently operates on three sites with a total of 549 beds, 3,000 staff, approximately 700 physicians and 400 volunteers. Affiliated with the University of Toronto and Queen`s University, the hospital is home to Ontario`s first Centre of Excellence for laparoscopic bariatric surgery; Canada`s first home nocturnal dialysis program and a major cancer program. Humber River`s redevelopment plan, approved by the provincial government, saw the official groundbreaking ceremony take place on December 2, 2011. The new Humber River will be Ontario`s first digital hospital, one that Humber River plans to make a technological and environmental showcase. CFNI is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) organization that provides leadership and resources for the enhancement of health and the quality of life in Northwest Indiana. Projects Community Foundation has pursued throughout its history have served to strengthen the communities it serves. At the heart of CFNI`s charitable endeavors is operation of Community Healthcare System, comprising three not-for-profit hospitals: Community Hospital in Munster; St. Catherine Hospital in East Chicago; and St. Mary Medical Center in Hobart. Other community projects include the development of The Center for Visual and Performing Arts; creation of a not-for-profit foundation for cancer research, operation of the Cancer Resource Centre offering free support services to cancer patients and their families; donation of land and more than $3.5 million to create the Community Veterans Memorial; and Hartsfield Village, a senior living continuing care retirement community. The Foundation also owns a for-profit company, Community Resources, Inc., which manages The Center for Visual and Performing Arts in Munster and is developing Community Estates, a residential development in south Munster.
