Georgetown Kraft Credit Union was founded in 1952. The company`s line of business includes the cooperative thrift and loan associations (accepting deposits) organized under other than Federal charter to finance credit needs of their members.
Sound Credit Union was founded in 1940 by 51 Pacific Telephone and Telegraph co-workers who banded together with the goal of giving themselves and their families’ easier access to loans and better protection for their savings than they could get from banks. They pooled $106.50 to start Tacoma Telco Credit Union and, since then, that original stake has grown to more than $1 billion. Today, Sound Credit Union has 23 full service branches in the Puget Sound area and nearly 100,000 member-owners. Our name has changed over the years, but our mission remains the same: to provide high-quality, high-value financial products and services to our member-owners. We never forget it’s your money. Our History: In 1958, Chanute Military Credit Union opened its doors on the Chanute Air Force Base in Rantoul, Illinois to serve military personnel and their families. With the government`s announcement of plans to close the Chanute Air Force Base, plans were made to expand the credit union in order to continue to serve those faithful military members. As a result, the field of membership was expanded and we changed our name to Credit Union 1 in 1982. In 1999, we combined forces with Paysaver Credit Union, headquartered in Lombard, Illinois.
