CVWD was formed in 1918 to protect and conserve local water sources. Since then, the district has grown into a multi-faceted agency that delivers irrigation and domestic (drinking) water, collects and recycles wastewater, provides regional storm water protection, replenishes the groundwater basin and promotes water conservation. The Mobile Area Water and Sewer System employs an average of 390 employees in water filtration plants, wastewater treatment plants, office operations, and field support service divisions. We are a member of the Mobile County Merit System operating as an Appointing Authority under the Mobile County Personnel Board. Applications for all positions are processed through the Personnel Board with the exception of unskilled laborer and contract positions.
