Serving San Diego County since 1880, San Diego Humane Society operates campuses in San Diego, Escondido and Oceanside. We offer San Diegans a wide range of programs and services that strengthen the human-animal bond, prevent cruelty/neglect, provide medical care, educate the community on the humane treatment of animals and provide safety net services for all pet families needing assistance with keeping their pets. As San Diego`s oldest nonprofit organization, San Diego Humane Society has campuses located in Escondido, Oceanside, and San Diego as well as adoption centers inside select Petco stores throughout San Diego County. San Diego Humane Society is supported by contributions, grants, bequests, investments, municipal contracts and small fees for services. OUR PROGRAMS AND SERVICES INCLUDE: -Adoptions: on-site and mobile (off-site). Every animal that we adopt out has been spayed or neutered, microchipped, is up-to-date on shots and has been evaluated for health and behavior. -Animal Adventure Camp (offered during school holidays and breaks). -Animal control and stray pet services (Escondido, Imperial Beach, San Marcos, Poway, Oceanside and Vista). -Animal cruelty and neglect investigations. -Animal Rescue Reserve: Rescuing animals in emergency situations. -Behavior helpline, training classes and private consultations. -Boy and Girl Scout troop programs. -Comprehensive medical and behavioral services for all animals in our care. -Educational programs for youth and adults. -Foster care program. -Intake of owner-relinquished pets and pets from other shelters. -Microchipping. -Owner-requested euthanasia for terminally ill or suffering animals. -PAWS San Diego: provides essential pet services and support to low-income seniors, chronically ill, and disabled individuals. -Pet-Assisted Therapy. -Pet loss support group. -Project Wildlife: the primary local resource for animal rehabilitation, conservation and wildlife education. -School outreach and supplemental programs. -Sheltering and adopting animals. -Spay and neuter services. -Vaccine clinics. -Volunteer opportunities for youth, adults and corporate groups.

Rainbow Village is a comprehensive housing program that provides fully furnished homes and comprehensive support services for homeless families with children. Over the past 25 years, Rainbow Village has emerged as a recognized program that does what temporary shelters cannot - permanently break the cycles of homelessness, poverty and domestic violence and give homeless families with children a fresh start in life. To achieve a graduate success rate of 85%, Rainbow Village provides a life changing 1-2 year program that is designed to transform the life of a homeless family into one of prosperity and independence. We firmly believe in the concept of providing a hand up and not a hand out. Families pay up to 30% of their income for housing and they develop and execute a self-sufficiency plan with the assistance of a Rainbow Village case manager. Once families become a part of the program, they immediately begin attending weekly, mandatory classes focusing on parenting, home management, financial literacy, health and wellness, and workforce development, among others. Before and after school programs are designed to keep Rainbow Village children safe and allow parents to work without worry. Alumni families program offers ongoing support and mentoring opportunities since studies show it takes a full five years to permanently break the cycle of homelessness.
Founded in 2003 by Dr. Romesh Wadhwani, the Foundation’s primary mission is economic acceleration of emerging economies. The Foundation embarked upon its mission in India first, and subsequently, the Foundation has expanded into the U.S and other countries. In India, with an expected growth of 250-300 million people joining the workforce by 2022, large scale job creation has became the primary imperative for the country. Also, as India’s population grows young, most advanced nations of the world are growing old, offering India an opportunity to become the global talent supplier. Catalyzing job creation and skill development become the two primary target areas of focus for the Foundation. During the last decade, Wadhwani Foundation has launched five niche, high impact Initiatives in India. These include promoting entrepreneurial and employment skills, tapping the educated disabled, encouraging innovation and driving policy changes to jump-start economic opportunities. To address persistently high youth and displaced-worker unemployment in the U.S, Wadhwani Foundation launched the ‘Race to a Job’ initiative in 2012.
