Job Summary
Partnering closely with the CEO and the rest of the executive team, this individual will become a key member of the Company`s top management. S/he will define the overall go-to-market strategy, drive marketing execution and use data-driven insights to improve all aspects of marketing at OnCourse Learning, building an integrated brand strategy across multiple on-line campuses/websites, creating best practices, upgrading resources, as well instilling creativity and innovation to meet the competitive and complex demands of the marketplace as well as increasing the overall value of the enterprise.
The Chief Marketing Officer will be responsible for developing and executing a comprehensive marketing plan to support and deliver OnCourse Learning`s overall business strategy and goals. S/he will be charged with leading the development and implementation of major initiatives and programs across a variety of marketing channels with particular focus on digital solutions/activities, including: SEM, SEO, email marketing, paid search, affiliates, partnerships, and social media.
The employee is expected to adhere to ethics policies and practices as established by OnCourse Learning.
Essential Functions
1. Assess, manage, develop and motivate a marketing team with four direct reports at a Director level. Recruit and retain additional marketing talent if/as appropriate fostering a culture of excellence and innovation within the marketing department.
2. Based on deep understanding of OnCourse Learning`s customers (trade and consumer), create and execute marketing plans covering all existing marketing channels and developing new ones to further expand OnCourse Learning reach.
3. Planning and execution of annual marketing plans; budgeting and budget management.
4. Develop and optimize digital customer acquisition channels and engagement campaigns; drive demand generation activities.
5. Develop and deliver personalized customer propositions and targeted marketing campaigns to drive new customers based on segmentation of customer base.
6. Rigorously track and analyze performance of marketing activities, including: customer research, competitive reviews and market trends, internal analysis, and data tracking.
7. Identify and drive growth in key/new target markets.
8. Both strategic and tactical responsibilities for CRM activities; understand and leverage consumer insights to provide solutions and ideas that bridge the web, mobile, and social media to maximize consumer engagement and program success.
9. Partnerships/Strategic Alliances: research, identify and develop strategic marketing opportunities, partnerships and alliances with a view to acquiring and converting new customers as well as solidifying brand positioning. Manage programs implementation, promotional plans, relationships and performance.
10. Email marketing: lead and optimize email marketing activities aimed at enhancing relationships with existing customer base, encourage customer loyalty and acquiring new customers.
11. Lead OnCourse Learning`s mobile and app based marketing strategy.
12. Brand Marketing: developing OnCourse Learning`s overall parent brand while maintaining and refining the position and identity of each online campus/website accordingly to specific customer needs and characteristics. Oversee brand deployment from message to experience across all media, online marketing, advertising, print, and physical space.
13. Develop a PR and Communications strategy; manage communications externally to the customer, press and brand partners.
14. Review and revise OnCourse Learning`s off-line initiatives, including print/direct mail/radio/TV.
15. Spearhead creativity, quality and innovation throughout the marketing department aimed at delivering compelling and differentiated initiatives and competitive advantage.
Education, Skills and Experience
• Bachelor`s degree from a reputable university. MBA strongly preferred.
• At least 10 years of digital marketing experience in a high growth, digital, content-driven brand environment wherein on-line marketing is a strategic lever.
• A team builder with impressive leadership and proven management abilities who can assimilate the resources of a decentralized marketing function into a collegial and cohesive team with common goals and a strong corporate identity.
• Track record of creating a strategy and executing across multiple digital marketing channels as well as the full marketing mix: advertising, media, promotions & communications.
• Demonstrated experience with implementing digital marketing initiatives that will scale to support the requirements of a fast growing organization in a dynamic and highly competitive segment.
• Deep, proven analytical skill set coupled with demonstrated experience optimizing digital funnel flows and applying analytical and quantitative frameworks to create comprehensive marketing strategies and plans, as well as acquisitions and engagement methods.
• In-depth knowledge of the digital environment and evolving tools/platforms used to maximize online presence coupled with strong working knowledge of social media outreach strategies. Ability to translate trends into brand appropriate business opportunities.
• A sound grounding in CRM practices and principles, coupled with strong analytical skills and good consumer instincts.
• Proven experience working in fast paced, highly entrepreneurial environments.
• Self- starter with an independent hands-on and make-it-happen approach to work.
• Strong sense of urgency and demonstrated ability to be decisive and move quickly.
• Superior communication skills (written, oral, listening and presentation) with the ability to articulate a vision as well as develop and deliver supporting marketing plans.
• Superior interpersonal skills with the ability to lead cross functional team efforts and experience working with Technology, Sales, Client Services, and Content teams.
