Independent Colleges of Indiana is the collective voice for excellence and choice in higher education for all students. What we do: -Public Policy Advocacy, especially in the cause of state and federally-funded student financial aid -Public Information and Research about the performance and contributions of the independent college sector in Indiana -Corporate and Foundation Fundraising, with all funds raised by ICI disbursed to member colleges -Development of Collaborative Services, such as group purchasing and shared services among our campuses -Administration of the Lilly Endowment Community Scholarship Program, along with other scholarships and grants We are an association of 30 private colleges and universities in Indiana. West Liberty University is a forward-looking, four-year public university steeped in a rich heritage as West Virginias oldest institution of higher education. Established as West Liberty Academy in 1837 (26 years before the state was admitted to the Union), it was created to respond to the need for higher educational opportunities west of the Appalachian ridge. The institution is named for the town in which it is located. West Liberty was so named in the late 18th Century as the westernmost point of the new liberty provided through the Declaration of Independence.
Founded in 1808, Mount St. Mary`s University (MSMU) is the nation`s second oldest Catholic university — offering a rigorous educational experience rooted in the liberal arts with campuses in Emmitsburg and Frederick, Maryland. TRADITIONAL UNDERGRADUATE The Mount`s main campus in Emmitsburg is home to more than 40 academic programs, Division I athletics, and an award-winning student life program. GRADUATE AND ADULT UNDERGRADUATE The Frederick Campus – located within an hour of both Washington, D.C. and Baltimore – offers graduate degree, graduate certificate, and undergraduate degree programs for working adults. Most classes are accelerated, offered in the evenings one night a week for 8-week sessions.
North Iowa Area Community College is a progressive, comprehensive learning institution positioned to serve as the major cultural, educational, and economic development force for the North Iowa region. 2008 marks the 90th anniversary of the College, which began in 1918 as Mason City Junior College (the first public two-year college in Iowa) and became North Iowa Area Community College in 1966.
