HHSC provides direct administration of Medicaid, the Children`s Health Insurance Program (CHIP), and SNAP food benefits, and also provides administrative oversight of other state agencies, including: * Department of Aging and Disability Services (DADS) , * Department of State Health Services (DSHS) , * Department of Assistive and Rehabilitative Services (DARS) , and, * Department of Family and Protective Services (DFPS) . Including Federal dollars, managed care in Texas Medicaid/CHIP is presently about $20 Billion per year in premiums, covering some 4 million beneficiaries, and contracting with over 20 managed care organizations.
