For nearly seven decades, El Camino College has been proud to serve our community`s educational and cultural needs through outstanding course offerings, diverse entertainment venues, and exceptional athletic and fitness opportunities. Located in the heart of the South Bay, the El Camino Community College District encompasses seven unified and high school districts, 12 elementary school districts and nine cities with a combined population of 533,000 residents. So now, as we enter our 69th year, the campus itself is taking on a “fresh” new look, with safety and technology upgrades continuing throughout the campus. As we move forward with our facilities plan, we know that our new construction is all thanks to you, our supporters.

Founded as Collège du Sacré-Coeur in 1913, it was the first, and for many years the only, institution of higher learning in Northern Ontario. In 1957, it changed its name and began to exercise its full teaching and degree-granting powers. It entered into the Laurentian Federation as a founding member in 1960. The University of Sudbury is a bilingual university based in the tradition of its founding Jesuit Fathers, and committed to promoting the traditions and culture of the First Nations. Inspired by the Jesuit philosophy of education (the formation of the whole person in service to community), the University of Sudbury also has a special commitment to community engagement and service to others. The University of Sudbury`s mission consists of four commitments: to promote the search for truth and meaning, ecumenical and inter-faith relations, bilingualism and a deeper appreciation of Aboriginal culture and traditions. The Library`s holdings and services support each of those programs. The Lucien Matte Residence is a "home away from home" for a community of 180 students. The Director of Spiritual Services organizes activities and fosters a stimulating environment for personal growth through community engagement in an ecumenical and inter-faith setting. Native elders also enhance the university experience of students by providing support services from an Aboriginal perspective. The University`s chapel is home to the St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, a community of the Diocese of Sault-Ste-Marie, and also serves as a place for ecumenical and multi-faith worship and meditation.

Every course and personal encounter is critical and builds the foundation of success. Therefore, a student`s understanding of the importance of learning from each course is crucial. Education is a journey, and it requires students to stay on track and build upon what they have already learned. The knowledge gained enables them to prepare for other opportunities along the way. My colleagues and I are committed to helping each student pursue an education that leads to a meaningful career. Our students` success will enable them to sustain their families and contribute to the vitality of their communities. Northeast Iowa Community College believes our students can go as far as their engagement in and commitment to education and training will carry them.
