Nome Community Center has been incorporated as a nonprofit 501(c)(3) since 1971, but its beginnings can be traced back to 1901 when it was founded as the Lavina Wallace Mission by the United Methodist Women. The mission of the Nome Community Center is to enhance the quality of life of the people of the Bering Straits Region through diverse programming serving elders, families and youth.
