United Way for Greater Austin`s work is research-based and results driven and resources are invested so that everyone has access to the promise of Austin. UWATX is involved in the Greater Austin community by running strategic programs such as Success By 6, Target Graduation, Financial Opportunity and the Navigation Center. We engage in civic leadership by developing corporate alliances, public/private partnerships, and philanthropic best practices. UWATX is the philanthropic backbone of Greater Austin, raising $17 million in 2011 through individual, employee, foundation, corporate and online gifts as well as engaging thousands of volunteers through annual Days of Service, employee campaign coordination, and strategic advisors (400+ volunteers committed to the mission of UWATX).
The YMCA of Pawtucket is comprised of five branches across the state: Family YMCA and Heritage Park YMCA Early Learning Center in Pawtucket, MacColl YMCA in Lincoln, Westwood YMCA in Coventry and Woonsocket YMCA in Woonsocket. With a focus on youth development, healthy living and social responsibility, strengthening communities is our cause. At the Y, we believe that lasting personal and social change happens when we all work together. We are a familiar face and trusted friend in central and southwest Minnesota but with a new name. The new name – United Community Action Partnership, Inc. (UCAP) – was adopted through the merging of two organizations (Heartland Community Action and Western Community Action) with a rich history of helping people, changing lives, and working to eliminate poverty in the lives of people in Cottonwood, Jackson, Kandiyohi, Lincoln, Lyon, McLeod, Meeker, Redwood, and Renville counties. UCAP is a joint effort to bring together area resources to effectively and efficiently address the growing needs of our local communities in southwest Minnesota. We continue to hold true to our history of being a “grass-roots” private nonprofit organization that is represented and led by the communities we serve.
