South Georgia Technical College`s main campus is located in Sumter County, six miles northeast of Americus. The college is 135 miles south of Atlanta, between Highways 19 and 49 on South Georgia Tech Parkway. It has a satellite campus in Cordele. It has been spotlighted as the top-ranked community college in Georgia for 2017 by two different organizations. South Georgia Technical College is one of only two technical colleges in Georgia with on-campus housing and a full service cafeteria. College Station Independent School District has been a consolidated district since 1941, when the public school was moved from the Texas A&M University campus to facilities on Timber Street.
