The first two-year college in Massachusetts, Holyoke Community College offers a university-caliber education and comprehensive individual support for our students. Founded as Collège du Sacré-Coeur in 1913, it was the first, and for many years the only, institution of higher learning in Northern Ontario. In 1957, it changed its name and began to exercise its full teaching and degree-granting powers. It entered into the Laurentian Federation as a founding member in 1960. The University`s chapel is home to the St. Ignatius of Loyola Parish, a community of the Diocese of Sault-Ste-Marie, and also serves as a place for ecumenical and multi-faith worship and meditation.
