Over 30 years ago, artist and designer Christopher Farr set out to unite heritage textile craftsmanship with contemporary design vision. Since then, he and his business partner Matthew Bourne have maintained a dedication to quality and an uncompromising pursuit of beauty that has helped revolutionise rug design and restore rug-making to the status of fine art. Each one made to order, Christopher Farr rugs are now a frequent sight at global art and design exhibitions, and in the homes of connoisseurs and collectors worldwide. Christopher Farr continues to protect and preserve the worlds weaving traditions, while pushing at the creative possibilities of design. Alongside Christophers own work, the company collaborates with a considered roster of international artists, architects, fashion designers and other visionaries to produce a selection of designs that remains unrivalled in its creative scope. Distribution is through showrooms located in London and Los Angeles as well as representation throughout the world. Collections include bespoke collaborations with designers such as Andrée Putman and John Pawson and artists including Gary Hume and Makoto Kagoshima. CF Editions collaborates with some of the worlds leading artists and designers, both past and present, including Josef and Anni Albers, Gunta Stölzl, Terry Frost and Sandra Blow. All designs are produced with the relevant institution, art gallery, estate or artist closely involved in the whole process and every rug is delivered with a signed certificate of authenticity. Unlike the made to order rugs, Editions are in stock and ready for delivery.
At Environmental Design Group, shaping the future of our communities is what we do best. Our experts specialize in a variety of fields that include civil engineering, landscape architecture, surveying, environmental services and construction management. Working together is how we achieve success, because collaboration across disciplines opens doors of possibility that so often stay closed. Our projects are present throughout the community. Think of us as the behind the scenes vision makers: the trail path you hike, the line that transports your water, the added turn lane on your way to work. We make the environment safer, not only because we can respond to environmental risk, but because we do everything with the well-being of our environment in mind. People trust us to see their project through and make community better. Its here for all of us.
Blue Jay Racing is a student-run design team open to all undergraduate students. The program was founded in 2004. The team competes annually in three international events put on by the Society of Automotive Engineers. Students design, build, and race a single seat off-road vehicle against a total of ~200 teams representing 14 nations and nearly 4,000 young engineers. The award-winning program offers student engineers an educational experience that goes beyond what the classroom can offer. Aside from the technical knowledge gained, the team-based skills learned through such a rigorous endeavor develops leaders well prepared to enter industry and academia. At each competition the team competes in four of six dynamic events (Acceleration, Maneuverability, Rock Crawl, Suspension and Traction, Hill Climb and Sled Pull) as well as three static events (a sales presentation, design presentations and a cost report). To cap off the competition, the team will also race in a grueling four-hour endurance race. Team members learn as much at competition as from designing and building their vehicle throughout the rest of the year. In addition to their own learning it is also important to the team that all members participate. At competition the team is always working, whether repairing their vehicle or planning and preparing for the next days events. With so much to do and so little time every member contributes to the teams success.
