The Village of Cordova is a small, quaint community located just a few miles north of the Quad-Cities on the Illinois side of the Mississippi River. Cordova maintains its warmth and charm even though we are just minutes away from such known places such as Exelon-Cordova Nuclear Power Plant and Cordova Dragway Park (drag strip), as well as several other surrounding businesses and manufacturing facilities. Locals believe the Mississippi river is heading upstream to its headwaters in Minnesota. This stretch includes Princeton Beach-possibly the premier river boating and recreation destination in the Bi-State area, which is located immediately adjacent to the Village of Cordova. They include more than 130 life insurance companies, 1,300 property/casualty insurance companies, about 100 health insurers and managed care organizations, and 300,000 individual insurance licensees, 122 state-chartered banks, 80 foreign branches, 10 foreign agencies, 14 credit unions, 13 credit rating agencies, nearly 400 licensed financial services companies, and more than 9,600 mortgage loan originators and servicers.

The Treasurer of State serves as the State`s banker and is responsible for an investment portfolio of approximately $9 billion. Every day, our staff accepts deposits, reconciles accounts, prepares statements and answers customers` questions. As the bank for the State, the office provides many of the same services as private banks. On average, the office accepts more than $70 million daily in deposits from various local, state and federal sources, and credits them to the proper accounts. These deposits are made up of electronic funds transfers, checks and cash. We process between 2,000 to 3,000 checks and reconcile over 3,000 accounts daily, representing the funds of nearly 200 state agencies, boards and commissions. The Treasurer is also charged with managing the Arkansas 529 Education Savings Plan, the Achieving a Better Life Experience (ABLE) program for people with disabilities, and serves as Chairman of the Arkansas Financial Education Commission.
