The Company
Masco Corporation (NYSE: MAS) has announced the spin-off of 100 percent of its Installation and Other Services segment (“Services Business”) into an independent, publicly-traded company. As separate companies, both Masco and the Services Business will have greater flexibility to focus on and pursue their respective growth strategies. The Services Business will focus on growth by capitalizing on North American new home construction as well as further expanding into commercial and retrofit categories.
The Services Business, comprised of Masco Contractor Services, the leading installer of insulation and other products in the U.S., and Service Partners, a leading distributor of residential insulation products and related accessories in the U.S., reported revenue of $1.4 billion in 2013. This business has an extensive footprint comprised of 190 contracting branch locations and 75 distribution centers. The spin-off of the Services Business is expected to be completed mid- 2015. As a result of this spin-off, the Service Business is in search of their General Counsel who will reside at their corporate headquarters in Daytona Beach, Florida.
Position Summary
The Director, Compensation and Benefits will serve as a key member of the Business Services Human Resources team and report directly to the head of Human Resources. This newly formed position will be responsible for the overall design, implementation, communication and administration of the organization’s compensation and benefits programs. This position also ensures that the compensation and benefits programs support the organization’s strategic objectives and meet the legal requirements. The incumbent of this position will interface with our senior executives, business leaders and Human Resource business partners and have extensive involvement in the preparation of materials being presented to senior management and the Compensation Committee of our Board of Directors.
Primary Responsibilities
Specific responsibilities include:
In collaboration with others, leads the development the organization’s total reward strategy and policies across all businesses and functions, assuring internal equity and external competitiveness.
While providing leadership, guidance and direction, ensures the local and regional deployment of the company’s compensation processes, projects and change programs including, annual pay reviews, salary structures, and all incentive programs.
Directs the design, implementation and administration of group health and welfare plans including medical, life insurance, accident insurance, long and short-term disability, profit sharing, and retirement programs.
Interacts with external vendors and consultants in both compensation and benefits to ensure the company is positioned competitively and stays current on trends/changes in the industry and nationally.
Responsible for ensuring the company’s total reward programs and practices are compliant with local and federal legislation.
Recommend and manage the annual cash and equity based short and long-term incentive programs for the organization.
Performs the planning, forecasts and calculations of expenditures in compensation and benefits for budget planning and tracking.
Conduct market salary studies on annual basis or more frequently as needed for various benchmark positions within the corporation. Determine and communicate appropriate market pay rates.
Draft Proxy materials to include Compensation Discussion and Analysis (CD&A), Incentive Summary Tables, Grant Based Award Tables, footnotes, etc. Coordinate final presentation and delivery of materials with CHRO, General Counsel and CEO.
Provide assistance with due diligence, analysis, recommendation and integration for mergers and acquisitions.
Hire, develop and retain a high performance team.
Required Experience/Qualifications
Minimum of 10 years of experience as a subject matter expert in compensation and benefits.
Prior experience working for a public company managing a compensation and benefits department.
Demonstrated experience effectively working with senior leadership and external consultants as it relates to the overall management of compensation and benefits design and administration.
Demonstrated in-depth knowledge and experience in effectively leading the wide-spectrum compensation and benefits programs and practices which supports an entrepreneurial, results-oriented business.
Superior intelligence and analytical ability.
Demonstrated leadership experience in a lean environment with involvement in execution as well as the development of strategic initiatives.
Prior experience with preparation of Compensation Committee and Board materials required.
Demonstrated ability to effectively lead people and get results through others.
