SmartSky Networks

SmartSky Networks, based in North Carolina`s Research Triangle, was formed in 2011 by senior telecommunications and aviation executives seeking to transform aviation through disruptive communications technologies and related tools. Working with leading aerospace and technology partners, SmartSky is rolling out its innovative air-to-ground network. The network takes advantage of patented spectrum reuse, advanced beamforming technologies and 60 MHz of spectrum for significantly enhanced connectivity. SmartSky`s network uniquely enables a productive experience in the air similar to on the ground, including unmatched capacity for data transmissions both to and from the aircraft. This real-time, low latency, bidirectional data link makes SmartSky the best in-flight user experience, and a key enabler for the new and enhanced apps, services, and hardware.

Inflight Warning Systems

INFLIGHT WARNING SYSTEMS was formed in 2002 specifically for the purpose of developing a line of bearing vibration monitors for use in commercial aircraft. Flight diversions resulting from smoke in the cockpit and cabin caused by fan failure has become a significant problem in flight operations. IWS has worked closely with airline customers to develop a successful product line, and has delivered over 4000 units worldwide. We specialize in vibration analysis, the basis for predicting fan failure. Although aircraft fan applications have been the core of the IWS products, other applications, including non-aviation markets, are also a part of our products and expertise. The IWS Vibration Monitor Unit (VMU) is a proven device that is easily retrofitted to aircraft fans to eliminate fan smoke failures thus eliminating flight diversions resulting from these failures.
