HPISD received acknowledgements in every category of the Texas Education Agency's Gold Performance Accountability Indicators. The GPA publicly recognizes high performance in areas that are in addition to those used to determine state accountability ratings. Highland Park High School students consistently score above the national and state average on the ACT and SAT. In 2012, HPHS students scored a composite 26.6 on the ACT, compared to the Texas average of 20.8 and the national average of 21.1. HPHS students recorded a composite score of 1792 on the SAT, higher than the Texas average of 1434 and the national average of 1498.
