With more than 5,300 employees currently working for the school district, Manatee County schools can be proud of a long-list of accomplishments, a few of which are listed here: Twenty eight of the schools graded in Manatee County received an “A” grade from the state based on student performance on the Florida Comprehensive Assessment Test (FCAT) during the 2008-2009 school year. All Manatee District elementary schools graded received a grade of “C” or higher during the 2008-2009 school year with 20 out of 34 receiving an “A”. Many of our schools maintained their good FCAT scores while 11 improved their school grades during the 2008-2009 school year. The twenty eight Manatee District schools receiving an “A” on the FCAT represented an impressive 55% of our schools (28 out of 51).

Banks School District is located approximately 25 miles west of Portland along Highways 6 and 26. Banks, Oregon is a rural district that stretches 20 miles from east to west and approximately 18 miles north to south and represents 450 square miles. Most of the land is either farm land or forest land. The town of Banks, with a population of 1400, is the only town of size in the district. Because of the large district size, approximately 95% of the students are bused.
