KATC went on the air in the fall of 1962 as an affiliate of the American Broadcasting Company (ABC), and celebrated its fiftieth anniversary in 2012. KATC-TV joins with local law enforcement agencies, hospitals and other organizations to host annual Safe Families events that heighten public awareness about safety and promote positive interaction with the people we serve.
