Far Niente was founded in California in 1885 as an exquisite oasis in western Oakville. Shuttered during prohibition, the magic never truly disappeared, and then-owner Gil Nickel worked hard to restore the winery and neighboring vineyards. He even kept the original name Far Niente -- an Italian phrase that translates to without a care. Today, Far Niente is recognized as a standard benchmark producer of top tier wines in Napa Valley.
