In 2016, the college will open its Public Safety Training Center in Burlington. The college’s 360-square-mile district is home to 446,224 residents, 10,000+ businesses, four school districts, and 33 communities. The U.S. Department of Education has designated ECC as a Hispanic-serving institution. The college has also been distinguished as a Military Friendly® institution since 2012. Nearly 11,000 credit students enrolled during the fall 2014 semester, and ECC has increased completions by 43 percent between 2000 and 2012, according to data provided by NIU’s Center for Governmental Studies. ECC’s Main Campus is conveniently located just four miles south of the Jane Addams Tollway (Interstate 90) in southwest Elgin, about 35 miles northwest of Chicago, and only 30 minutes west of O’Hare International Airport.
