Accountable for developing and implementing U.S. Regional (San Diego office) HR strategy, in alignment with global HR direction & strategy, to ensure delivery of HR support that enables the U.S. organization to meet or exceed short- and long-term business objectives. While partnering closely with U.S. business operations leaders, areas of direct responsibility include U.S. HR systems, policies, and programs that directly impact Intercept`s ability to attract, retain and drive maximum performance of top talent throughout the U.S. organization. Goals will be achieved through direct line collaboration of the U.S. HR San Diego team and the effective partnering with global HR colleagues in NYC and Internationally. Specific areas of regional oversight include talent management, hiring, compensation/rewards & benefits, employee relations, performance management, HR policies, organizational development & training, etc. As a member of the HR and US regional business teams, this post plays a key role in contributing to Intercept`s culture by design initiatives, planning and implementation. Additional projects to be managed as the business evolves and grows exponentially.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
To perform this job successfully an individual must be able to perform each essential function satisfactorily.
• Manage San Diego HR functional activities, ensuring that HR team structure, systems, programs, policies capabilities, team & individual objectives, etc. result in delivering excellent support to the U.S. San Diego business. Specific areas of deliverables include: performance management, compensation/rewards, benefits, employee relations, HR policies, organizational planning, organizational development & training, etc.
o Partners with counterparts in the NYC and Global offices ensuring effective systems and processes for attracting and retaining top talent in the San Diego office are consistent with both tactical staffing needs and long term core competency requirements. (Note: at present time Talent Acquisition is a key HR Strategic Imperative)
o Lead regional (and contribute to global) training session for HR specific policies. Provide planning and implementation of specific "culture design" initiatives and also ensure that day to day HR related activities also embody the values and ethics of the company.
o Ensure that U.S. HR systems programs, policies, procedures etc. are legally compliant regarding local and federal laws and as appropriate, minimize our HR risk profile.
o This role serves as a critical business partner to the Chief Medical Officer & Executive Vice President, Development and his senior regional business team. Strong partnerships are also required with the leaders of other support functions (Legal, IT, Finance, Facilities etc.). As leader of a key support function this role must effectively interact with all functions and employees at all levels.
Experience and Skills
Education:
• Required: BA/BS or equivalent
• Degree/Advanced Degree in HR, Organizational Development, Business, Law or a related field is preferred
Experience (e.g. Jobs, supervisory, industry, international, etc…):
• 10+ years overall HR experience, and 5+ years experience working within a pharma or clinical recruitment organization.
• Proven leadership experience and excellent track record of collaborating with senior management in support the organization`s business goals.
• Proven track record in HR functional areas including talent acquisition, employee relations, organizational development, performance management, compensation, benefits, etc.
• Proven track record as effective manager and developer of future HR leaders.
• Experience in organizational design and development and change management. Must know CA laws.
