Since 1930, nonprofit Purdue Research Foundation has played an important role in helping Purdue become a world-class university. As we gathered feedback from our client companies and gained additional confidence from our faculty-entrepreneurs, we watched our technology transfer, business development and incubation programming garner Purdue numerous honors and awards. On behalf of Purdue, the foundation: 1) manages gifts, bequests and endowments; 2) makes funding available to faculty, staff and students to aid in scientific investigation, research or educational studies; 3) acquires, constructs and improves Purdue`s facilities, grounds and equipment; and 4) manages intellectual property developed at Purdue. Contributions to Purdue, through the foundation, result in scholarships, graduate fellowships, faculty grants and equipment cost-sharing grants. The foundation owns and manages the nationally-acclaimed Purdue Research Park and several satellite technology incubators. The foundation also acquires real estate for the expansion of the university`s main campus in West Lafayette as well as its regional campuses and agricultural centers. In addition, the foundation`s Office of Technology Commercialization (OTC) operates one of the most comprehensive technology transfer programs among leading research universities in the United States. Services provided by this office support the economic development initiatives of Purdue University and benefit the university`s academic activities.

Yuba Community College District spans eight counties and nearly 4,192 square miles of territory in rural, north-central California. Yuba College and Woodland Community College, offer degrees, certificates and transfer curricula at college campuses in Marysville and Woodland, educational centers in Clearlake and Yuba City, and through outreach operations in Williams and on Beale Air Force Base. Zaytuna College, the first Muslim liberal arts college in the United States, began in 1996 as Zaytuna Institute in Hayward, California, co-founded by Hamza Yusuf and Hesham Alalusi. During its early years in the San Francisco Bay Area, the institute, through its educational programs, publications, and productions, established an international reputation for its efforts to help revive Islam`s educational and intellectual legacy and to popularize traditional learning among Western Muslims. In 2004, noting the paucity of religious leaders with the cultural literacy to tend to the spiritual and pastoral needs of American Muslims, Zaytuna Institute launched a pilot seminary program. Under the guidance of Zaid Shakir, the program trained and graduated five students in 2008. After the culmination of the pilot program, the Board of Directors of Zaytuna Institute (later renamed the Board of Trustees of Zaytuna College) guided the organization through a seismic transition, with the goal of establishing an accredited Muslim institution of higher education in the United States. In 2009, Zaytuna College was launched in Berkeley, California, by Hatem Bazian, Zaid Shakir, and Hamza Yusuf. The Summer Arabic Intensive, a two-month, residential language course, was its first academic program. Subsequently, the undergraduate program welcomed its inaugural freshman class for the Fall 2010 semester.
