Originally chartered in April 1963 to serve employees at Kennedy Space Center, the credit union merged with the Halifax Teachers` Federal Credit Union in 1993. In 1997, Kennedy Space Center Federal Credit Union received a community charter and membership became open to anyone who lives, works, or worships in Brevard or Volusia counties, Florida.
