Factory Automation Systems is a Atlanta, GA-based company in the Business Services sector.
Many companies claim their goal is to improve educational instruction and student learning, but we have it written into our bylaws. Originally launched in 1997 as a project of North Carolina State University, and fully incorporated in 2003, Advanced Instructional Systems, Inc., dba WebAssign®, was founded by John Risley Ph.D., a physics education specialist and professor in the Department of Physics at North Carolina State University. It was Dr. Risley’s vision to provide faculty with the most robust tools and the widest selection of content to support their pedagogical goals, thereby fostering student success. Dr. Risley passed away in April 2013, but his passion for using technology to connect students and teachers lives on in everything we do. As part of his vision, WebAssign became an employee-owned benefit company in 2012, with the stated benefit of education. All company strategy and decisions are dedicated to promoting, supporting, and improving education and learning. Our Board of Directors includes practicing educators, and more than 40% of our employees have teaching backgrounds. We may not be the largest company in the market, but when it comes to enhancing education we are the most passionate.
