The Warriors also were recipients of the 2014 and 2016 Sports Team of the Year Award by the Sports Business Journal/Daily and recognized again this year as a Finalist for the award. The Warriors are also currently building a privately funded sports and entertainment venue, Chase Center, which will be the anchor of an 11-acre mixed use complex on private property in San Francisco`s Mission Bay neighborhood set to open for the start of the 2019-20 NBA season. Chase Center will host approximately 200 events per year and be a destination for the entire Bay Area. The Warriors D-League affiliate, the Santa Cruz Warriors, just finished their fifth season in Northern California and have appeared in the NBA D-League Finals in each of their first three seasons in Santa Cruz (2012-13 through 2014-15) and won the D-League Championship in 2015.
