In 1947, Rudy and Nancy Talbot, two passionate and entrepreneurial New Englanders, put an ad in The New Yorker. In 1957, Food Town was formed in Salisbury, NC. During the 1960`s the success of Food Town was defined by our simple operation and low prices. We grew tremendously during the 1970`s. By the end of the 1980`s, Food Lion was the fastest growing super market chain in the country.
