The University of the District of Columbia David A. Clarke School of Law (UDC Law) is committed to the public interest, providing more than 100,000 hours of legal services to thousands of D.C. residents each year through our nine legal clinics and robust experiential programs. With the largest clinical requirement of any U.S. law school, our top-ranked program provides students the opportunity to gain experience in both direct representation and effective community activism and policy advocacy. This commitment has led to a No. 2 ranking by the National Law Journal (2018) for government and public interest job placement and No. 8 for Best Clinical Training Program by U.S. News & World Report (2019). Eastern Kentucky University boasts a rich heritage of outstanding service to the region and Commonwealth of Kentucky. The origins of what is now EKU can be traced to the 1874 founding of Central University in Richmond. The roots of present-day Eastern go back to 1906 with the establishment of Eastern Kentucky State Normal School No. 1 on the old Central University campus. In 1922 it became a four-year institution and changed its name to the Eastern Kentucky State Normal School and Teachers College, awarding its first degrees under that name in 1925. The school received accreditation from the Southern Association of Colleges and Schools in 1928; then, two years later, in 1930, it changed its name again to the Eastern Kentucky State Teachers College. Eastern added graduate studies in 1935, and thirteen years later, in 1948, the General Assembly removed the word Teachers from the school`s name, and granted it the right to award nonprofessional degrees. It was not until 1966 that the school was officially renamed Eastern Kentucky University. In 2010, the University awarded its first doctoral degree -- in Educational Leadership and Policy Studies.
The University of Maine, founded in Orono in 1865, is the state`s land grant, sea grant and space grant university. It is located on Marsh Island in the homeland of the Penobscot Nation. As Maine`s flagship public university, UMaine has a statewide mission of teaching, research and economic development, and community service. UMaine is the state`s only public research university and among the most comprehensive higher education institutions in the Northeast. It attracts students from all 50 states and more than 75 countries. UMaine currently enrolls 11,741 undergraduate and graduate students who have opportunities to participate in groundbreaking research with world-class scholars. UMaine offers more than 100 degree programs through which students can earn master`s, doctoral or professional science master`s degrees, as well as graduate certificates. The university promotes environmental stewardship, with substantial efforts campuswide to conserve energy, recycle and adhere to green building standards in new construction.
Minnesota State University, Mankato is a public four-year university located in Mankato, Minnesota. As of Fall 2015, the student body is the second largest in the state of Minnesota with over 15,000 students, with the University of Minnesota, Twin Cities campus ranking first. Students are served by 600 full-time faculty members creating a 28:1 student to faculty ratio. The school was founded in 1868 and is part of the Minnesota State Colleges and Universities System (MnSCU). The current President is Richard Davenport, who began his term in 2002. The athletic teams are known as the Minnesota State University Mavericks with school colors of purple and gold. Teams primarily compete at the NCAA Division II level in the Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference. The exceptions are the Men`s and Women`s ice hockey teams who compete at the NCAA Division I level, in the highly regarded Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA). Minnesota State University currently offers 158 undergraduate programs of study, 82 graduate programs and is the first institution in the United States to offer a Master of Fine Arts degree
