HAFTR educates students from age two to twelfth grade to be b`nei/b`not Torah in modern society who will love Hashem, study Torah, observe halacha and connect to the Jewish nation, the Hebrew language and Medinat Yisrael. Our students are guided to be responsible and sensitive to all members of the larger American and global communities. HAFTR cultivates each student`s unique talents within a program of academic excellence in Judaic and General Studies and through a rich array of extra-curricular activities. Our graduates will be prepared for life: to learn and to lead.
Banks School District is located approximately 25 miles west of Portland along Highways 6 and 26. Banks, Oregon is a rural district that stretches 20 miles from east to west and approximately 18 miles north to south and represents 450 square miles. Most of the land is either farm land or forest land. The town of Banks, with a population of 1400, is the only town of size in the district. Because of the large district size, approximately 95% of the students are bused. Agriculture and timber are the main industries within the district, but the majority of employed people work in areas outside the community. The area has moved from an agricultural dominated community to a mix of agricultural and a more recent commuter group.
