It is one of fastest growing cities in Kaufman County, which is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States. From 2001 to 2006, the City of Forney experienced a 57 percent growth in population.
Since the turn of the century, Forney ISD has been ranked as one of the fastest-growing school districts in the State of Texas. During the 2009-2010 school year, Forney ISD had a total enrollment of more than 8,000 students and more than 1,100 teachers and staff. The make up of the district includes nine elementary schools, two middle schools, two high schools and one alternative school spread out across the district that spans more than 79 square miles.
