Position Summary Information
Summary of Position The Chief Marketing Officer serves as the primary steward of the university`s brand, elevating and enhancing Elon`s national reputation and visibility by planning, directing and coordinating advertising and marketing activities of the university. The CMO creates innovative marketing strategies that bolster awareness, respect and loyalty among all university constituencies and supporting successful admissions recruitment and fundraising operations.
Education Requirements Bachelor`s degree or higher from a four-year college or university.
Degree/Major Bachelor`s degree or higher in communications, marketing or related field.
Length of Experience Six or more years in positions of increasing responsibility. Advanced strategic and creative acumen, strong understanding of higher education environment and advanced professional knowledge of integrated marketing. Exceptional communication and leadership skills, with proven success in traditional and innovative campaigns across a broad spectrum of today`s marketing channels.

Special Skills or Experience Thorough knowledge of marketing principles, brand, product and service management, sales and business development; along with a demonstrated track record of success and performance. Ability to understand changing market dynamics, translating them into actionable strategies to achieve university objectives. Understanding of all aspects of print material production; development and implementation of social media plans; and working with media outlets. Ability to build brand awareness and support internally.
