York Community High School, established in 1917 and accredited since 1925, is a distinguished four-year comprehensive high school. Located on a 45-acre campus, York currently has an enrollment of 2,653 students. The Class of 2014 graduated 625 students, 96 percent of whom matriculated to degree granting institutions. Over 80 percent of students participate in one or more extracurricular activities. Approximately 5,640 EC-8 students attend Elmhurst Community Unit School District 205`s twelve additional schools. In addition, 8 elementary schools feed into the District. Elmhurst, Illinois, located 17 miles due west of Chicago, is a residential suburban community with a population of approximately 43,000. Elmhurst District 205`s boundaries also include some households from Addison, Bensenville and Oak Brook. Elmhurst College, a four-year liberal arts college, is also located within the District`s boundaries.
