Judicial Conduct Board of Pennsylvania

The Judicial Conduct Board is the state agency responsible by constitutional mandate for investigating complaints of misconduct against judges of Pennsylvania`s unified judicial system and, where appropriate, filing formal charges against those judges found to have engaged in unethical behavior. The members and staff of the Judicial Conduct Board take their duties to the citizens and Judiciary of Pennsylvania very seriously. The Board is committed to preserving the honor, dignity, independence, and integrity of Pennsylvania`s judiciary. Political affiliation, race, color, age, national origin, sex, sexual orientation, ancestry, religious creed, disability, and the position or status of the complainant or judge are not considerations in reviewing cases. The Board`s duties to the public and judiciary require the honesty, intelligence, professionalism and diligence of every Board and staff member. The Board investigates every allegation made against a Pennsylvania judge. Each complaint that is filed with the Board is thoroughly reviewed and analyzed by the staff as well as the twelve Board Members. This procedure is an essential safeguard in the integrity of and public confidence in the judicial process. Judges are held to a high standard of ethical conduct as prescribed by the laws of Pennsylvania, including the Code of Judicial Conduct, and the Board and its employees strive to conduct themselves in a similar manner.
