SweeGen

According to the World Health Organization, in 2016, worldwide 1.9 billion adults were overweight and 650 million adults were obese. The WHO also points out that the number of people with diabetes rose from 108 million in 1980 to 422 million in 2014. According to the American Diabetes Association, about 193,000 Americans under age 20 are estimated to have diagnosed diabetes, while about one in three American kids and teens is overweight or obese (American Heart Association). With these sobering facts in mind, just like you, consumers in the US, Europe and many other countries around the world are looking for a better alternative to sugar and artificial sweeteners. The number of overweight and obese people is increasing rapidly and diabetes is becoming a widespread disease. The growing concern regarding health risks associated with sugar and artificial sweeteners is now forcing consumers to reconsider their choices when it comes to sweetened foods and beverages. SweeGen, a California based company, specializes in nature-based sweeteners. Our Bestevia® stevia leaf sweeteners are non-caloric with delicious sweet taste and without the characteristic aftertaste of the stevia extracts of the past. Bestevia® makes it possible to reduce sugar at much higher concentrations than before without sacrificing taste which is what the health-conscious consumer wants, less sugar, less calories and great taste. After many years of research and development our innovative team has come up with a nature-derived production process that combines nature with modern fermentation, supports farmers and at the same time is sustainable. Our products have been confirmed safe for use in food products by the FDA (Generally Recognized as Safe) and certified as Non-GMO and can be used in different food and beverage products. This enables you to reduce the amount of sugar you ingest in your favorite foods and beverages.

Chartwells Higher Education Dining Services

It is my great pleasure to share that Chartwells has re-positioned its brand for a new generation and beyond. This new identity was built upon understanding our new audience, Generation Z, which has replaced Millennials on college campuses. With its extreme affinity for technology, Generation Z is described by thought leaders as `over-connected, yet under-related`. Research suggests that brands promoting high-intensity relationships will be the key to preparing Gen Z students for the future. Our dining programs bring students together and serve as centers of academic life on the campuses we serve. Our investment creates social spaces. Our cuisine nourishes and inspires. If college is about sharing big ideas and discovering new people, then Chartwells is the center of a vibrant academic life. We`re chefs, interaction facilitators and food enthusiasts with a knack for drawing people together. Through our cuisine, community, talent, global resources and flexibility, we have the power to nourish and inspire. Our new mission is to be the place where hungry minds gather.

Fat Tuesday

In the early 1980s, as an alternate career, David Briggs began evaluating opportunities within the restaurant and bar industries. He quickly noted the dislike most establishments had for frozen drinks. This dislike stemmed from the complicated mixing process that slowed down customer service. Also, while customers wanted frozen drinks, the operators were not marketing them properly. The drinks that were available were of inferior quality, limited selection and premium priced. Based on a vision to revolutionize the way frozen drinks were treated in the market place, David Briggs began an extensive research effort focused on developing a variety of high quality frozen drink products that could be prepared in a consistent manner. Prepared with the development of more than 20 unique frozen drink offerings (primarily alcoholic), Briggs introduced the frozen specialty drink concept in the New Orleans area on January 2, 1983, known as New Orleans Original Daiquiris. This concept focuses on the sale of frozen specialty drinks at locations that provide a casual, conversational atmosphere, are well lighted, clean and appeal to a broad clientele base.
